A good analysis makes the difference!

Important to know: A bad propeller blade is one of the main reason for high CO2 emissions and fuel consumption as well as other negative performance issues! An accurate analysis is crucial for proper optimization and therefore key to eliminate propeller inconsistencies and increase the performance of a vessel. PropSAS® determines inaccuracies in propeller pitch, camber, elevations and every discrepancy and tolerance deviation according to ISO 484/2 ‒ accurately to the millimetre.

Advance your fleet and benefit!

Refurbishment and repairs

Specially trained and experienced technicians provide on-site service for all possible repairs and refurbishments of propeller geometry.

Modifications and improvements

Detailed image of actual marine propeller shows all imperfections and shows possible modifications of the geometry to ensure highest manufacturing tolerance class. We inspect leading-edge radius, blade thickness, pitch angles... Higher manufacturing tolerances results in vibration reduction and also lowers fuel consumption.

Bending

To optimize air foil shape and achieve consistent attack angle.

Welding

To repair any cracks and damage and achieve right airfoil shapes.

Cutting / Polishing

To achieve high surface finish for les resistance.

Balancing

To achieve perfect concentric geometry with minimal vibrations.

On-site balancing

Our company established specialized procedure to inspect dynamic balance of marine propeller for desired rotational speed. Stereolithography image of propeller is analysed in special software for virtual balancing, now is not necessary to remove propeller from the drive shaft and can be balanced immediately in dry dock.

Why is boat propeller balance important?

For those who own a boat or frequently enjoy boat rides, encountering an odd vibration from your vessel might raise some concerns. This vibration could point to an issue with the propeller's balance. Keeping a boat propeller balanced is fundamental for the vessel's smooth functioning. A propeller that is not balanced properly can lead to disturbing vibrations and noise, which can damage the boat's propulsion system and structure. Furthermore, an imbalance can result in inefficient fuel consumption, decreased maneuverability, potential safety hazards due to engine failure, and ultimately, a reduction in the engine's overall lifespan.

How to recognize a boat propeller's imbalance?

A well-balanced boat propeller is essential for optimal performance and to minimize wear on the boat's drivetrain. Signs of a propeller imbalance include vibrations in the structure of the boat, a drop in acceleration or performance, and abnormal or loud sounds. These symptoms can be subtle, making it important to be aware that your propeller might be unbalanced even in the absence of noticeable vibrations. To guarantee the best performance and safety on the water, it's advisable to conduct regular propeller inspections.

Optimization and modification of propulsion system

Our engineering department enhances latest hydrodynamic computing technology which helps our engineers to foresee possible improvements of propulsion system. Evaluating and retrofitting actual propeller geometry and present configuration of propulsion system can improve over all vessel performance and efficiency, this reduces attained EEXI and CII indexes by lowering fuel consumption.

Explaining the PropSAS® service

3D Scanning

Using the latest 3D scanning technology, PropSAS® records three-dimensional shapes of marine propellers with accuracy and independent of materials and dimensions. The 3D scan captures the exact geometry of the scanned propeller surface with its bumps and lumps as well as its thickness and volume.

Reverse engineering

After scanning, you get an exact 3D replica of your propeller blade. PropSAS® displays the 3D surface and directly shows all deviations from the ISO 484/2 standard. By monitoring the volume of the propeller blades, you get important information about its balance. All this information is needed for a perfect optimization.

Simulating & evaluating

For a clear image of your ship’s current state and the best possible optimization, PropSAS® enables you to simulate and evaluate all relevant categories – fluid behaviour, propeller-hull interaction, drag resistance and many more.

Best quality service

Refurbishment and repairs, modifications and improvements, balancing, or optimization and modification of the propulsion system, PropSAS®'s advanced 3D scanning technology consistently provides the most effective way to achieve top-notch results. The precise capture and detailed analysis of the propeller's geometry enable unmatched optimization in terms of balance and efficiency, leading to enhanced performance and reduced fuel consumption for the ship.

Quality

ISO 484 – 1 /2

PropSAS® determines inaccuracies in propeller pitch, camber, elevations and every discrepancy and tolerance deviation according to ISO 484/2.

Because of PropSAS® high accuracy we even introduced our own class 0!

On-site balancing

Virtual dynamic balancing without need to remove propeller from drive shaft.

ISO 1940 1:2003

The standard has issued guidelines with regard to a number of different kinds of devices. A balance quality grade of G6.3 is appropriate for most of propellers. A grade of G2.5 is usually only required on very special equipment. We exceed these standards, and we offer G2.5 grade balancing in most cases.

Advance your fleet

Benefit from the best possible optimisation, balancing, modifications and repairs and don't settle for simply inefficient methods. Thanks to the highly accurate PropSAS® analysis method, we bring your ship and fleet up to the highest standards. Save fuel and reduce your CO2 emissions now.
